Banking growth and digital shift
Cambodia’s banking sector continued to grow in 2025, with more branches, stronger capital, and a clear move toward digital and mobile banking. Regulators kept a focus on stability and financial inclusion.
Digital and mobile banking
Banks have expanded mobile apps, bill payments, and transfers. ABA Bank, ACLEDA, and Wing remain leaders in app usage and features. Many customers now use apps for day-to-day transactions instead of visiting branches.
Regulation and supervision
The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) has tightened reporting and capital rules. New guidelines affect licensing, consumer protection, and anti–money laundering. Banks and microfinance institutions are adjusting to these requirements.
Competition and consolidation
Competition is strong among commercial banks and with microfinance institutions. Some smaller players have merged or refocused. Foreign banks still play an important role in trade and corporate banking.
Outlook
Expect more digital products, clearer regulation, and continued competition. Customers benefit from better apps and services, while banks balance growth with capital and compliance.
